Hip hop collaboration/dispute name project

For my fourth dev-log, I came up with a really awesome idea. I decided to generate a bunch of hip hop names that were labeled with a specific color; Either blue or red. The blue color label represents a collaboration that a hip hop artist had in the past with another artist and the red color label represents a dispute that a hip hop artist had while either collaborating with them or arguing with them during their past life. For example, the artists Big L and Big Pun that I put in the diagonal list of artists have the color label blue meaning that they both collaborated on a song together and they were also in the same rap group together as well called Digging in the crates. Another example of a dispute would be between Foxy brown and Lil-kim labeled in  red. Back in the day, they used to be really great friends however, as they became famous overtime, they both began to compete creating diss-tracks against each other. This was such a fun project to make and I also enjoyed creating the labels and coming up with the idea of collaboration labels and dispute labels using color for every pair of artists names.

I think this is a cool approach to data visualization explaining social conditions or communities, and love that you’ve focused on rap here. This is very much in line with the Rap Research Lab. You might dig their projects.

Rap Research Lab is a community-based creative technology studio that uses a Hiphop framework to develop new ways for people to engage with data and culture.

One of their projects was the Mapper’s Delight.

Red/blue can denote gang afiliation, not sure if you meant to refer to that but maybe other colors would remove this connotation.
